KELLY & RICK
Kelly Carey and Rick Santamaria are coming into their 10th season with the Dunes! Over the years they have become an audience favorite in the Cabaret Room. Kelly is an award winning actress and singer from Grand Rapids. Her extensive theatrical resume includes several performances at Mason Street Warehouse (in Saugatuck), and appearances along side performers like Jill Larson (ABC’s All My Children), Kim Zimmer (Guiding Light), acclaimed Broadway actor, Timothy Shew, and Tony Award winner, Sutton Foster. She is also the co-owner and artistic director of Creative Edge Productions which is a West Michigan based production company that provides customized entertainment for corporate and private events.
Rick Santamaria has spent much of his career as a pianist, touring Europe with his own show on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He has also served as music director for local theaters for musicals and special engagements. He is also owner of Windsor Cottage – an upscale furniture consignment shop in Cascade, MI. The two have performed as a cabaret act for nearly 15 years and have become a staple in cabaret rooms all over the state. Kelly’s dynamic range and versatility as a performer set her apart from even the best singers. The two have a combined repertoire of nearly 200 songs – always something for everyone!
The show is hosted by Lavendar LaRue, the Show director at the Dunes. The Dunes Divas have been a part of the Dunes Resort for over 10 years, and features a unique cross section of drag and female/male impersonation. The shows are set in a cabaret setting, featuring character impersonations, production numbers and a broad spectrum of lip sync styled shows. We feature some of the top illusionists in the Midwest.
THE RUBI GIRLS
THE RUBI GIRLS packed the house and rocked our stage in August of 2010 at The Dunes, and they’ll be back again on July 15, 2017. Though their shows raise awareness and benefit HIV/AIDS organizations, their performances are achingly funny. Guests at last year’s show had these things to say: “I am still a bit sore in the cheeks from laughing so much.” “That was a great night, probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time.” “…to say I was blown away would be an understatement.”
The Rubi Girls have been performing together since the late 1980’s. In 2003, a documentary about the comedic drag troupe screened and won numerous awards at film festivals around the world. Comprised of school teachers, business owners, a counselor, a filmmaker and a graphic designer, THE RUBI GIRLS are old friends with full-time jobs who perform together for a good cause…and for free cocktails.

BRANDEN & JAMES, the Cello and Vocal duo, brings the soulful timbre of James on his cello combined with Branden’s emotional and powerful vocals, creating a sound that leaves audiences feeling moved and inspired. “…the always supportive, sometimes haunting power of the cello accompanying Branden’s voice solidifies the classical sound, adds new depth to the popular, and allows the audience to just sit back and take it in…so movingly, that you may forget to breathe!” says Paul Lisnek – Host of Broadway in Chicago Backstage.
The energy and fervor behind their music has a story to tell of their unique pairing. Branden had a successful career on stage and in recording prior to his meeting the Australian cellist, James. Some of Branden’s accolades include finishing as 2013 Finalist on America’s Got Talent, appearances at The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and Los Angeles Opera, two world tours with the renowned Twelve Tenors and two solo releases worldwide. James brought to the mix his own share of musical accomplishments, accompanying Olivia Newton John, Idina Menzel and Bernadette Peters in multiple concerts. He initially came on board to music direct one of many charity concerts in which Branden was performing, and their connection was so immense they began to play together regularly. The two started creating arrangements of “familiar tunes that make you listen to them like you’ve never heard them before.” Shortly after playing their first public concert together, they’ve been touring around the world with their original songs and innovative, classically inspired covers.
Since then, they have shared the stage with legends such as Sarah Maclachlan, Rita Moreno, Sally Struthers, Loretta Divine, Bruce Vilanch, Constantine Maroulis and Jessica Sutta. They regularly entertain for Princess, Oceana and Azamara Cruise lines with their energetic shows, “At The Corner of Symphony and Soul” and “From Bach to Beiber”. In 2016 they made their debuts at Birdland Jazz, New York City, The Purple Room, Palm Springs and The Palm Cabaret in Puerto Vallarta to much acclaim. Reminiscent for some as The Piano Guys meets Josh Groban, they weave familiar melodies of pop tunes in classical style with their own unique sound. Branden says, “people
tell us we’re so unique and different. I think that’s what excites us most. We’re actually doing something that hasn’t been done before.” In 2017, they look forward to a repeat tour of Australia, a return to their sold out premier at The Purple Room in Palm Springs and debuts at the largest street festival in Chicago called Market Days, “The Post Office” in Ogunquit, Maine, and “The Dunes” in Saugatuck, Michigan. In the meantime, Branden and James are shooting new music videos and recording original songs, especially written for cello and tenor.
