WHAT KEEPS PEOPLE COMING BACK
The Dunes was the first space where I truly felt I could be myself with no caveats. Very grateful for the community it provides to our people year-round.
We are lucky enough to live in a relatively tolerant area for gays, but my spouse is effeminate and still takes regular judgment when we’re out. We were introduced to The Dunes Resort about 10 years ago, and it was the first time I saw my spouse open up and just celebrate being himself in a long time. We rented one of the cabins and spent most of our time sipping wine and watching the others enjoy the pool and each other.
I noticed quickly that EVERY person of every shape and size was celebrating the freedom of being themselves the whole time. The staff was so friendly and supportive from day one. We’ve returned to rent a cabin many times now and will keep coming back to the complete, beautiful freedom for ALL LGBTQ+ people who come there. It continues to give us the taste of what it would be like to live in a world where we were all accepted for who we are, and we could just relax and enjoy the safety and fun of life in a “normal” world.
