We want to make sure you have a fun and memorable stay while you’re at the Dunes. Below are some of our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your questions below, feel free to give us a call!


What are check-in and check-out times?

Our check-in and check-out times vary by season:

  • Off-season check-in times: Monday–Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Summer check-in: Sundays at 4 p.m.
  • All season, all room check-out: 11 a.m.

*Minimum stays may be required for your accommodations. Every weekend might be different, but on busier weekends in July and August we occasionally require a 3-night minimum. This varies largely depending on the season and entertainment, so please ask us for more information when making your reservation request.


What is your pet policy?

We love our furry friends! Our resort is pet-friendly for an additional charge of $25 per night. We just ask that you let us know if you’re bringing a pet. Please also be respectful of the resort and your fellow guests. Pets may stay in your room, but they are not allowed in the pool area. Failure to register your pet will result in a $200 fee.


How do I rent a cabana?

Are you looking to rent a Dunes Resort Poolside Cabana? Make a reservation at the front desk or call 269-857-1401.

  • Weekend rates: $75 per cabana
  • Weekly rates: $25 per cabana
  • Holiday rates: $175 per cabana

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations more than 14 days prior to arrival date will receive a full refund less a $50 fee. Cancellations less than 14 days prior will result in loss of your deposit. July 4th and Labor Day weekend reservations must cancel at least 60 days in advance and will be subject to a $50 fee. Otherwise, the entire deposit will be forfeited. If we’re forced to close due to COVID-19, your deposit will be refunded in full.

Can I smoke or vape at The Dunes?

We abide by the following state law regarding smoking:

Effective May 1, 2010, Michigan ACT NO. 188 Public Acts of 2009 – This Law bans smoking of any type in all public spaces including bars, pool, restaurants, and hotel rooms (which includes all Dunes Resort Bar areas and hotel rooms).

We do not allow vaping. This includes medical and recreational marijuana. There is a $200 penalty for smoking in any room.


When are my payments due?

Your final room payment is due when you check in at the front desk. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or cash. There is an ATM on site. You’ll be charged $25 per person per day for occupancy over 2 per people room with an 11% tax added to room rates.

Winter Statement

We want to thank everyone that visited us this year and helped keep The Dunes safe this summer. Our guests' and patrons' safety and health are our main priorities. As the cooler temps are forcing us to move indoors, we have made the decision to close for the winter season, beginning November 2. We know indoor events are major spreaders of COVID-19. For this reason, we do not feel comfortable keeping our bar and resort open. This is not goodbye, simply a "see ya later." We look forward to welcoming you back next year.
