General Manager

Located in the resort community of Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan, The Dunes Resort is one of the largest LGBTQ+ Resort and Entertainment Complexes in the United States. Though highly seasonal, we are open year round.

With a compact, diverse staff, this position requires a variety of skill sets and knowledge of all aspects of hotel/food and beverage and basic skills in marketing and social media.

We are looking for an individual to join our team year round who is interested in expanding their knowledge base to grow as this position grows.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Type: Full-time, year round, Salary

Location: Saugatuck/Douglas, MI

Base Pay Range: $50,000-60,000/year

On the day-to-day, you will be…

  • Managing the Front Desk operations
  • Monitoring and analyzing front of the house issues and proactively implementing efficient solutions
  • Interacting positively with customers and employees and taking action to resolve any problems while maintaining a high-level of customer satisfaction
  • Assisting with interviewing/hiring new team members, assist with training, coaching and resolving problems.
  • Assist with creating and deploying training procedures for new hires and current staff to ensure highest level of customer service and optimal operational efficiency
  • Work closely with Food and Beverage and possess the ability to serve as MOD
  • Available to work on a regular basis specifically nights, weekends & holidays
  • Assist with website updates and communications through social media, newsletters, etc. and assist with coordinating in house promotions

Essential Requirements/Must-haves

  • Ability to problem solve on the spot and do so effectively in everyone’s best interest (find win-win scenarios)
  • Be available to serve in a variety of positions as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in learning all aspects of The Dunes Resort
  • Time management skills to maintain attention to detail
  • Must be able to proactively recognize process deficiencies and immediately put solutions in place (doesn’t wait for problems to surface, instead anticipates problems and looks for way to minimize disruption to the operation)
  • Self starter who can see what needs to be done and can work with limited direction
  • Would never say “Not My Job” — as a “small business” we all do everything as needed
  • Not afraid to be creative

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have 2-3 years hotel, bar or restaurant experience
  • You have multiple years of management experience
  • You are willing to learn new skills and challenge your existing ones

Winter Statement

We want to thank everyone that visited us this year and helped keep The Dunes safe this summer. Our guests' and patrons' safety and health are our main priorities. As the cooler temps are forcing us to move indoors, we have made the decision to close for the winter season, beginning November 2. We know indoor events are major spreaders of COVID-19. For this reason, we do not feel comfortable keeping our bar and resort open. This is not goodbye, simply a "see ya later." We look forward to welcoming you back next year.
