The entire property is open to the public (pool, bar, etc.) so you can enjoy all of the amenities that make The Dunes one of the area's leading gay and lesbian resorts: a main bar with large dance floor (the Disco), a spacious patio bar (Tea Deck), a cabaret (with live entertainment - see schedule), and a new Game Room bar that overlooks the main bar and deck. With something for everyone, from gay night club dancing and party pics to casual relaxation, The Dunes easily becomes your gay resort!

At the Dunes Resort we have The Blue Frog serving great food to take with you. Open Memorial Day - Labor Day from 11 - 6 daily (closed Tuesday in J/A - and Wednesday in June). For other options, check out the Saugatuck/Douglas area business association. Or ask at the front desk for details.

Driving and Transportation Answers:
How far are the Dunes from Chicago or Detroit?
We are a little over 2 hours from Chicago and the O'Hare Airport. The Holland Train Station is about 15 minutes from The Dunes if you want to take the train. Driving from Detroit takes about 3 hours. We've posted directions on our Driving page.

We are about 80/20 men/women. We do have three women's weekends a year where the property is 70/30 women/men. Whatever your gender, The Dunes is among the area's leading gay and lesbian resorts!

No. Michigan has strict liquor laws, no nudity in a liquor service area.

How far is the beach from the Resort?
Oval Beach is about a 5 minute car ride. The Douglas Beach is about 3 minutes.

What lodging opportunities and amenities are available?
The Dunes Resort gay hotel offers the best in gay friendly Saugatuck vacation accommodations with a combination of luxury, comfort and excitement with a total of 81 rooms and individual cottages on 20 acres. There are coffee makers in all the rooms except the original hotel (2 double beds) and the three styles of Dunes Rooms. All of the cottages, suites, king and standard motel rooms have small refrigerators. Beginning April 30, 2010 all Dunes Accommodations are smoke free per Michigan Law.

We do accept pets with a $20 per night pet fee. Pets are not accepted in the Dunes Rooms.
